AAGG Holds Fundraising Event to Support California Treasurer John Chiang Running for Governor in 2018
On December 16, 2017, the Asian American for Good Government (AAGG) held a fundraising dinner for California Treasurer and Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Chiang who will be running California Governor in 2018. Over 40 people attended the fundraising event at The Warehouse Buffet, in Foster City. Treasurer Chiang delivered a speech on policies he will promote to improve the education system and make housing affordable if elected as governor. Treasurer Chiang spoke with pride about his achievements serving as the State Controller and Treasurer. “One trait that I have is to get the job done,” said Chiang. He promised to improve the education system in California and provide more affordable housing. He also mentioned that having political integrity is another remarkable trait he possesses.
AAGG Board of Director Michael Lee was the emcee for the event; AAGG Board of Director Sandy Chau gave an inspiring speech to unite Asian Americans. AAGG Co-Chair Hsing Kung, spoke with appreciation for the many years of friendship between him and Chiang. He praised Chiang’s impeccable track record for fulfilling campaign promises. High school representative Peter Xu encouraged the young generation to participate in politics.
At the end of the event, Chiang joined each table of guests to answer specific questions about his own political ideas, policies, and career.
